2018 Mazda3 vs. 2018 Toyota Corolla

If you’re tired of slogging all the way to Overland Park in a compact that is short on amenities and power, it’s time to give the Mazda3 a look. The 2018 Mazda3 delivers the safety, performance, and comfort features drivers want, with an attractively low price that puts competitors like the 2018 Toyota Corolla on notice and does it for less than you might expect.

Compact Sedan Safety

The Mazda3 offers drivers access to the latest in advanced safety equipment including an available blind spot warning system, a cross-path warning system, and the E911 emergency notification system, which is capable of contacting emergency services if the vehicle is in an accident and the driver is incapacitated.

The Corolla offers a suite of advanced safety equipment with Toyota Safety Sense, but it omits blind spot warning and rear cross-path warning systems. Toyota also fails to offer a GPS enabled emergency system, so if you’re in an accident and cannot call for help, it could take longer for EMS to arrive.

Mazda vehicles and their integrated SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY are well known for their power and responsiveness, and the Mazda3 is no exception. The standard 2.0L 4-cylinder delivers 155-hp, 23-hp more than the Toyota’s 132-hp 4-cylinder engine.

The Available 2.L 4-cylinder engine generates more power as well, giving drivers access to 184-hp compared to the Corolla’s optional 18.L 140-hp engine upgrade.

Comfort and Convenience

The Mazda3 offers drivers access to abundant comfort and convenience features that make even long trips into Kansas City more relaxing, including available remote vehicle start, heads-up display, cornering headlights, heated steering wheel, and dual-zone air conditioning, making the Mazda feel more like a luxury vehicle than a budget-friendly compact.

The Corolla doesn’t offer access to remote start, heads-up display, cornering headlamps, heated steering wheel, or dual-zone air-conditioning on any trim.
