2018 Mazda6 vs. 2018 Nissan Altima

Getting the family to the Kansas City Zoo shouldn’t be a hassle, and in the 2018 Mazda6, it’s not. With responsive SKYACTIV® Technology it easily outperforms competitors like the 2018 Nissan Altima, delivering an affordable, attractive sedan guaranteed to delight the whole crew.

Engine Specs

Cruising to Overland Park is easy thanks to two potent engine options. Drivers can choose from the 2.5 L SKYACTIV-G® four-cylinder powerplant capable of 187-hp and up to 35 mpg highway or opt for the 2.5 T SKYACTIV-G® four-cylinder motor on select models that offers as much as 250-hp and 31 mpg highway fuel economy.

The Nissan offers just one engine option; a 2.5 L four-cylinder motor that manages just 236-hp and a maximum of 34 mpg highway fuel efficiency.

Interior Features

Both vehicles offer roomy interiors with space for five passengers, but there are serious differences between the comfort you’ll find there. The Mazda has amenities like memory seating, heads-up display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic dimming side view mirrors, optional heated rear seats, and available air-conditioned front seats.

The Nissan Altima cannot be equipped with any of these features and providing only heated front seats on selected models.

Both sedans give drivers access to hands-free calling, music streaming, Bluetooth connectivity, and convenient full-color touchscreen interfaces for convenience. But only the Mazda offers the addition of the E911 system, which can contact emergency services and send help to your location if your vehicle is in an accident.

If you have a collision a Nissan and cannot call for help, there could be a significant delay before assistance arrives.

Safety Features

The Mazda and the Nissan both offer standard driver and passenger front airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, and rearview cameras for basic safety. But Mazda takes it up another step with available lane departure warning and an optional 360-degree rearview monitor that provides a composite view of the area surrounding the vehicle to make backing and parking safer and simpler.

The Nissan only offers parking sensors with audible alerts but no visual help with objects to the side of the vehicle.
